Our Concert

Wow!!!  What a fabulous concert we had today.  Thank you to all of our parents and families for coming to help us celebrate.  We had children share their instruments, piano playing and dancing.  We had singers, drummers and rock stars.  I'm sure you are as proud of your children as we are.  Congratulations Piako Rua!!! You are ALL superstars.

IDFNZ Yellow Day

We had a wonderful time supporting IDFNZ today.

We are a non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting children, teenagers and adults with diagnosed Primary Immune Deficiency (PID) disorders as well as bone marrow and liver transplant children.

Check out our yellow outfits.  Even the teachers dressed up!

STRATEGY WORKSHOPS

In Maths we have been busy thinking of fancy ways to solve addition problems.

Petra, Jacob L and Charlotte P are using place value to solve equations - they are pretty good at it too!

Liam and Mikaela are using number bonds to solve addition equations.

Keira, Emma L and Emma B are also learning number bonds.  They using dominoes to count the two parts to make the whole.

Here's a cool song about number bonds...

A BEAUTIFUL WINTER'S DAY

It was such a lovely day today that Mrs Kenyon took us outside for a story.
We loved it!

OUR INVITATION WINNERS

We had to design an invitation for our concert next week.   Mrs Kenyon awarded some prizes this afternoon for the ones the teachers decide best meet the criteria of being colourful, neat and tidy, and had an appropriate design.

Congratulations to these wonderful artists....

Sammy the mouse visits Piako Rua

We were extremely lucky to have Mr Kemp come and tell us some stories about Sammy the mouse today.  Take a look at his pet mouse.  Thank you for coming Mr Kemp.

"The Very Cranky Bear"

The Very Cranky Bear

Mrs Kenyon read us “The very cranky bear”.
We were able to answer lots of questions about the story and draw some amazing pictures of the creatures in the story.
Have a look at how clever we are!

NUMBER BONDS

Some of us have been learning about number bonds.  Here is a catchy tune to help explain what they are...

You could help us at home by getting us to think of all the diffferent number bonds for a number.

For example:  Number bonds for 10 would be:
10+0
9+1
8+2
7+3 etc

MAKING OUR INSTRUMNETS

On Thursday we made our instruments.  We had to look carefully at our plan and then make our instrument.  We had a great time!
